Dear Worn-Out Mama...
If you’re parenting teens or adult children and feeling stretched thinner than you ever thought possible… you’re not alone.
This season of motherhood is beautiful—but it’s also brutal.
It’s the late-night prayers no one sees.
It’s the silence that feels heavier than any words.
It’s the ache of letting go…
when everything in you wants to hold tighter.
And somewhere along the way, maybe you started wondering:
Am I failing?
Am I broken?
Did I miss something important?
I need you to hear this, love:
You are not broken.
You are not failing.
You are simply human—
and motherhood is both sacred and stretching, especially in these messy, middle years.
Parenting older kids isn’t what we imagined when they still fit perfectly in our arms.
It’s more complicated.
More bittersweet.
More like standing on holy ground with a heart breaking wide open.
They’re bigger now.
Their choices are bigger too.
And your ability to fix, to protect, to know every detail—
has grown smaller.
It’s disorienting.
It’s heartbreaking.
And it’s so, so normal.
You’re walking through one of the hardest, holiest transitions there is:
Loving without controlling.
Supporting without saving.
Letting go... while staying close.
Whether your teen is pulling away, your adult child is making choices you never imagined,
or your heart is just quietly grieving how quickly it all changed—
you are not unseen.
You are doing holy work in the unseen moments.
You are planting seeds you may not get to watch bloom.
You are loving in ways that echo into eternity.
Right here.
Right now.
Exactly as you are.
Held by the God who loves your child even more than you do.
Held through unanswered prayers, messy conversations, and long, aching nights.
You don’t have to be strong all the time.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
You just have to let yourself be held
by the One who never lets go.
Motherhood will stretch you.
It will break you open and rebuild you softer, wiser, braver.
But you are not walking through it alone.
Even here—
especially here—
you are already being held.
A Gentle Reminder for Today:
When the fear creeps in or the weight feels too heavy, whisper this simple prayer:
"God, I can’t carry this alone. Hold me. Hold my child. Hold our story."
And believe that He already is.
A Verse to Anchor You:
"The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."
— Deuteronomy 33:27
You are already tucked into the strongest arms there are, Mama.
Even now.
