What I'd Tell a Mom Who Just Got Cut Off From Her Child

If you just got the call, text, letter, or the silence that came out of no where- I’m not going to rush you out of that pain…

I’m going to sit here first. And affirm what your feeling but might not have the words for yet. Or are to scared to say out loud.

Yep. You’re questioning every parenting decision you ever made.

Yep. You’re going down the “I should have” road, wishing you could go back and change your choices.

Yep. That shame is loud.

Yep. It’s isolating, because people don’t understand.

Yep. It takes you to a dark place.

Yep. It’s a spiritual battle.

Yep. The enemy’s lies will SCREAM that you failed. That you’re worthless. “What kind of mother are you?”

I know. I’ve been there. And I’m not going to tell you to snap out of it, or that everything happens for a reason, or any of the things people say when they don’t know what else to say.

But here’s what I want you to learn faster than I did.

The enemy will try to take this and ruin you. He will use it to destroy you, if you let him. He wants you stuck in the isolation. Stuck in the shame. Stuck rehearsing every moment you wish you could change.

That’s the plan.

But there is a blessing buried in this pain, and I don’t want you to miss it.

The blessing is realizing the pedestal you put your children and motherhood on. The blessing is seeing - maybe for the first time - that your worth was too closely tied to your success as a mother. Not to who God says you are.

And now….Now you get to rediscover that.

You get to be rebuilt.

Not because your child came back. Not because the story resolved the way you prayed it would. But because you refused to let the enemy have the last word. If nothing motivates you, let that drive you to heal.

So hear me: use this season to grow. Become the holy, healed version of you - for reconciliation, or for you.

Either way, you are not who satan says you are.

You are who God says you are.

You are claimed, chosen, redeemed, loved, and worthy. You are meant for more than being buried in this pain.
